What do I need to do if I have Hazardous Waste at my premises?

If you produce or wish to remove hazardous waste from your premises you will need to register your premises for a “Premises code” with the Environment Agency.

it is an offence to produce or remove hazardous waste from your premises if you are not registered or exempt from registering.

What paperwork do I need to remove or dispose of hazardous waste?


The majority of hazardous waste require a consignment note assigned before removal/disposal at a permitted waste management facility.

There are a few exemptions from this rule, they are if the waste is:

  1. Radioactive
  2. Not from a premises
  3. Domestic Hazardous Waste – however if a contractor is removing asbestos from a dwelling a consignment note will be required.

How do I dispose of Hazardous Waste?

The disposal really depends on the waste, in the first instance give us a call.

Our waste management team have extensive knowledge in legislation and  the correct disposal route for hazardous waste.

What will Wareham & Purbeck Skip Hire do for me?


First,  we qualify the waste, to confirm that is hazardous. We will supply a date for collection that suits you.

We raise the consignment note and our trained drivers will attend your site, talk you through completing the paperwork, and remove the waste.

We then either store the waste at our Licensed Waste Transfer Station until disposal/recycling at the appropriate facilities, or transport the waste directly to the appropriate facility.

Do I receive paperwork once the disposal is complete?


Yes you do, we will forward a copy of the completed consignment note to you.  This will provide proof that the waste has been dealt with in accordance to current legislation.
