Explore the history of Wareham & Purbeck Skip Hire from 1992 when it all began to today where we supply hundreds of businesses and customers with trusted waste management services.
We celebrate our 30 years in business. We still service all Stepnell jobs locally, along with a vast band of loyal customers whom we thank for their continual business and whom we reward with a first-class service. We are proud to achieve a recycle rate of 98%. LW and DC are still with us after 20 years of employment.
Waste Handler purchased and proves to be a “game changer” in the transfer station with BA at the controls
Having been brought up in the business BA (the baby from 2002) joins in the yard as a machine operator. The second generation has begun.
A brand new fleet of 6 Skip and RoRo lorries were purchased to faciliate the growing demand and wider reach of our services across Dorset and the local area.
A substantial investment is made in a MRF to secure the future of the business, improve recycling rates and substantially increase capacity with the ability to process 100,000 tonnes per annum.
The business purchases an additional plot next to the yard to continue to support its rapid growth.
ISO Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Accreditation is awarded.
Purchased Unit overlooking yard and moves into new offices. In addition, we have a new weighbridge installed.
The business expands onto adjourning plot to facilitate the growing demand.
Company purchases yard on Holton Heath. After licencing, the waste transfer station is up and running with JA in a Porta Cabin in one corner, (with a new born baby). The phone rings constantly so JA employs LW. SA employs DC as a driver.
The company out grows yard at Puddletown Road and moves to a rented yard on Holton Heath.
Scott brings his wife into the business as it increases and it is apparent that he was no good at admin…. luckily Julie was! SA & JA Andrews t/a “Wareham & Purbeck Skip Hire” is formed.
Wareham & Purbeck Skip Hire employs its first driver which marks the start of rapid growth for the company started by Scott Andrews.
Purbeck Skip Hire purchased and merged with Wareham Skip Hire to form the basis of the entity we see today. Fleet is extended by 1 truck and 30 skips.
Wareham Skip Hire formed by Scott Andrews who spots a gap in the market for a skip hire company. Starts with one 3.5 ton Transit and 7 skips, operating out of small yard in Puddletown Road and a mobile phone and answer phone taking bookings as he drove and sorting Skips at the end of each day. That ethos of customer contact is still as strong today as it was from the start.
